Tired

A doodle prepared between several phone calls

Driving to work each morning I pass through a junction with a little memorial in the shape of a Greek Orthodox church on one of the corners. It was placed there by the family and friends of a poor 25year old who was killed -run over by a truck - on that particular spot.

It always makes me think of the cliche "Live each day of your life as if it were your last one".

Have I done that today? Have I in fact done so in the past weeks and months? The answer is "No"!

I even wonder sometimes whether I actually have a life!

Going through the daily routine of getting up at 5.00am and being at the office until 8.00pm or 9.00pm hardly constitutes having a life. (Keep in mind that it's a job that I do not like, for a company I like even less)!

Returning home exhausted with enough energy to only prepare a bowl of corn flakes for dinner, trying to steal some minutes to write a post so that I don't alienate myself from new friends - I have not seen your childhood friends for almost a year now! - perhaps make a phone call to my girlfriend half way across the globe, getting a shower and five hours sleep before I hit this vicious circle again, hardly constitutes having a life!

I ask the Big Guy upstairs to cut me some slack, knowing deep inside that I should be grateful for my health, my family, my friends.

Yet, I still know that there is more to life than this!

There must be a better job out there for me! There must be some way of making a family with my girl! There must be some way of filling up my life!

All I am asking for, BIG GUY, is Cut Me Some Slack Already!!!

Dude, you and me are buds. We started on this blogging journey around the same time and we gave each other support along the way. You don't have to worry about alienating me and I'm sure everyone else around here feels the same. Life throws you cheap shots sometimes, and we need all the friends we can get just to make it through. Roll with the punches as best you can, we've got your corner and we're cheering for you!

I think the big guy wants to see us do this ourselves. I asked him, "Big Guy, why are you being a prick to Epimenides?" and he said to me, "Dave, You think I know fuck nothing? I know fuck everything!" Take it easy bro. :)

Epi you are in my prayer. And pal I do understand even if you're too busy to blog. You won't lose this reader :)
PS: at one point in life, I was in the same situation as you are. I saw no light and it just seemed forever. Then one day I decided to set "short-term" goals for myself, like oh I'll be happy if it doesn't rain today, or I'll be happy if I get my bonus next month... and suddenly life was a lot easier to bear.
Of course, I didn't know how miserable I was until I started coming out from the deepest bottom... by then I actually missed those miserable days for I'd learnt so much.

Hi, again, Epi. You never have to worry about loosing me as a reader. I check in every day or two. Besides, who am i to throw stones, I haven't been posting daily either!!! I know that you will come out of this experience the stronger for having it. I am sure you are doing an awesome job, and that your team justifiably look to you for your wonderful sense of leadership and humor.

I agree that The Man Upstairs probably wants us to work our own way though these times. That said, I am sending you all the positive energy I can muster. Too bad you're so far away. We'd make you a proper dinner any time!
